“The earth has music for those who listen.”
–Shakespeare
Today is a splendid prelude to Autumn’s full on gorgeousness, a Pumpkin Spice Latte type of day. Autumn struts into town, street princess style, a style too tempting for words. She summons our senses, demands we behold her campy presence. A tousled mess of flowing curls, thickened by the rich decay and rot of a summer’s sweet rose. Bits and sticks woven together, like springtime nests, tied up in golden ribbons, frame her handsome face. Streamers of tulle, shades of earthen, moss and crimson wraparound her spirit. She is beholden to Winter.
Sunbeams gently push light rays between the cloud spaces. They sparkle and shine, illuminate the earth. It’s a perfect moment to linger and pause, behold her beauty. People stroll, their shoulders wrapped with woolen sweaters, a comfort from the sudden chill of Autumn’s tossed kisses.
I believe I ❤ Autumn best of all.
Autumn’s whisperings caress, “Soon, soon.”Notice me.
Soon the leaves will drop, their glorious colours of crimson, yellow and orange, lighting up the land like sparks
Drifting and dancing, they spin, pivoting on the back of a swaggering wind blustering from the North.
Pumpkins, cinnamon, and cardamom mingle and mix
Aromas tease while apples bake, reminding us of deeper feelings we can’t quite put our fingers on.
Autumn’s whispering, “Soon, Soon.”
Squirrels scampering, sideways and back, chittering the news,
“Soon, soon.”
Gathering acorns to tuck inside their wintery nests.
Snuggle up.
Autumn’s whispering, “Soon, Soon.”
Great imagery.

And before you know it winter will be upon us.Autumn doesn’t seem to last long.
Isn’t that the truth?Snowflakes and chills. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Exquisite writing! I climbed into every moment you captured, not wanting to be put down. X
Thank you for the compliment, Jacqueline. You’re a beautiful writer and I “covet” your posts.
Mmm, this is delicious Lynne – I can taste autumn in your writing and it creates comfort and excitement because it’s my favourite season.
Autumn is the perfect time to “nest.” If I recall, Autumn is the season that you “draw inwards” to prepare for Spring’s rebirth.

Thank you for stopping by to read the post and leave a comment. Autumn is my favourite season, too.
“pivoting on the back of a swaggering wind” that was a great word string.
Thanks, Om. I don’t know exactly what came over me during that “keyboard” writing moment. Ha.
Something good came over you! 🙂
